The Dallas cast was one of the most popular ensemble casts in the history of soap operas. This dramatic show originally aired on April 2nd, 1978 on CBS, and aired for a total of 14 seasons and 357 episodes. The show centered around the Ewing family, the exploitative owners of an oil company, and their constant feuds with their rivals, the Barnes family. At first, the show was only meant to be a five-episode long miniseries, and it aired late at night. Ratings were low, but this was mostly due to the timeslot, and the creators were actually surprised to find that more people were interested in the show than they expected. As a result, they decided to transform the show into a full series and moved it to a better timeslot.
