Honor Blackman always wanted to be an actress. On her 15th birthday, her parents surprised her by gifting her acting lessons. After graduating from high school, Honor wasted no time in getting into the world of theater. She spent a few years working as an understudy before finally receiving a role of her own via the production of a Patrick Hastings play by the name of The Blind Goddess, which premiered at the Apollo Theatre. The play premiered in 1947. The same year, Honor made her debut on the big screen.
Honor’s first role on the big screen was a non-speaking part, though it paved the way for bigger and better things. In the early 1960s, Honor received her big break when she was cast on The Avengers as Dr. Cathy Gale. Two seasons into the seminal spy series, Honor quit so that she could appear in Goldfinger.
