These remembrances serve not only to honor that star’s career but also to help the local economy with tourism dollars, as people from all over will come to check out the attraction. Other times, it’s not an actor who is being honored, but instead a particular role they played. These often are pieces of work that get commissioned by cities and towns to attract tourists, or donated by TV networks, or even the stars themselves! And when a show is a hit for them, they will commission a statue of one of the lead characters, and offer it to a place of significance for the actor of the role. We also talk about statues that were donated by the person themselves, such as when Sylvester Stallone donated a statue of Rocky to the city of Philly.
