Hogan's Heroes is considered a classic of the small screen. Created by Bernard Fein and Albert S. Ruddy, it followed the story of an Allied group of prisoners who were running a special operations group all-the-while under Nazi lock and key. Each week they would attempt to escape Nazi custody and would fail in some kind of humorous way.

The premise proved to be boundary-pushing. At the time, the concept of turning Nazi Germany into a comedic situational comedy seemed absurd at best and insensitively offensive at worse. Fortunately, the show was blessed with great writing that set the mood in a well-balanced way that effectively wielded satire for its advantage.

The show proved to be wildly popular and would go on to last 6 seasons spanning 168 episodes. Critics would agree as well that the show had struck gold. It was nominated for 12 Emmys during the years it was on television.
