cockatoo hilariously heckled her owner while she was singing saying "it hurts my soul" and "itâs annoying".
Footage exclusive to Newsflare shows Valerie Hopkins was practising her new song "The Climb" at home in Biggs, California, on May 13 when her pet bird Gabby started interrupting her.
The video â which has been viewed more than 4.3 million times â features Hopkins at the piano when the umbrella cockatoo started shouting "I donât like that, why do you play it" from across the room.
As Hopkins continued to play, Gabby kept interrupting with quips like "itâs so annoying" and "guess you donât want to be quiet" leaving her owner in stitches.
Hopkins said: âI could hardly get through 'cause I was laughing so much, but I was trying. I just started rolling with it at that point, cause I was thinking âthis is hilariousâ.
âWhen she first started yelling, I waited for a minute and tried starting over. But then every time I started to sing again, she would yell.
âNormally she dances when I sing, or sometimes tries to sing along herself, but most often dances and bobs her head. Not that time.
âIâm actually just coming to find that she may actually like some of my songs more than others. I actually wasnât expecting her to yell at me the day this happened.
âI was shocked when it went viral. It was pretty exciting because a lot of people connected with my music.
âI didnât expect the massive response I got on the little bits of the song you could hear in the video, not only because I couldnât stop laughing and could hardly sing, but you couldnât hear the whole song.
âGabby came from a neglectful and abusive household prior to me rescuing her. Itâs one reason I was so drawn to her.
âI could tell she really needed love and someone who could understand her and care for her how she needed to be cared for. She and I have created a very deep bond with each other.â
The video has racked up thousands of comments from fans left in stitches by Gabby's actions.
One said: "I think you should write a song with the bird's lyrics, it would be hysterical."
Another commented: "Omg I'm crying! Where can I buy a demotivational parrot?!"
"If Simon Cowell was a bird," one user quipped.
