From 1974 to 1984 94-year-old veteran actress Marion Ross played the beloved mother Marion Cunningham on the ABC sitcom Happy Days. Throughout the series' 11-season run, Ross was the loving, matriarchal anchor of the Milwaukee-based Cunningham family.
Marion's perpetually exasperated husband, Howard, was played by Atom Bosley. Then you had their son, Richie, played by a young Ron Howard, and his bratty younger sister Joanie who was portrayed by Erin Moran As the show progressed, the leather-clad tough guy Arthur Fonzarelli, aka the Fonz, was basically made an honorary member of the Cunningham family. Played by Henry Winkler, the Fonz eventually started calling Marion "Mrs. C". This nickname would not only stick in the context of the show, but it would also become what an entire generation of avid TV watchers would refer to Marion.
