Francine York first decided she want to be an actress when she was in primary school. At the age of 9, Francine performed the role of evil stepsister Griselda in her school’s production of Cinderella. By the end of her school days, Francine was writing and directing plays for her high school. After high school, Francine found some success on the local beauty-pageant circuit. This led to modeling, and modeling led the Minnesota-born performer to California.
In California, Francine worked as both a model and a showgirl while dreaming about being a legitimate actress. The star’s big break came thanks to Jerry Lewis, who cast her in a variety of his films. The most memorable of Jerry’s films that Francine appeared in would have to be 1963’s The Nutty Professor. In 1973, Francine appeared in the cult-classic movie The Doll Squad. To this day, The Doll Squad marks Francine’s most popular appearance in a movie.
Though Francine York aspired to work on the big screen, she ended up doing the majority of her memorable work on television. Besides Batman and Bewitched, other notable television series that Francine showed up on during the height of her career include My Favorite Martian, Burke’s Law, Perry Mason, Lost in Space, Green Acres, The Wild Wild West, I Dream of Jeanie, Mission: Impossible, Kojak, Columbo, and Matlock. She also had a pretty big role in Days of Our Lives. However, nothing beats the star’s sultry appearance in Bewitched.
