Were you a fan of the classic 1980’s sitcom, Family Ties? It ran for seven seasons, from 1982 to 1989, and it explored the dynamic of a family with differing political and cultural viewpoints. Creator Gary David Goldberg had noticed that more and more of the hippies from the 1960s were having kids who disagreed with their take on life. These were kids growing up in the Reagan era of the 1980s, where conservative values were taking hold, and things like materialism and capitalism were stressed. As such, these kids often got into huge disagreements with their more liberal parents. And ultimately, this dynamic made for a hilarious sitcom in the form of Family Ties.
