The reason that Burt and Dinah didn’t end up getting married is that Dinah refused to marry him. It wasn’t until many years later that Burt would learn the tragic reason that Dinah refused to tie the knot with him. Burt always wanted to have kids, and he finally realized that dream with his second wife Loni Anderson. Burt and Loni tied the knot in 1988 and stayed married until 1994. It was in 1994 that Dinah passed away.
Prior to meeting Dinah Shore, Burt had been married to British actress Judy Carne for a few years in the 1960s. Dinah was married twice over the course of her lifetime, with both marriages having dissolved prior to her meeting Burt. Although Burt and Dinah were only together for around four years, Burt would leave a bouquet of flowers on Dinah’s grave every February in the years leading up to his 2018 death.
