At the beginning of her career, she met her one true love, Bobby Darin. Connie and Darin collaborated despite opposition from Connie's controlling father. Her father ultimately succeeded in breaking up the couple. Her one true love marries another woman many years later, which causes her to hold a grudge against her father. She harbours such hatred for her father that she secretly appears in the movie he forbade her to be a part of. However, the death of his beloved Bobby Darrin in 1973 was a stab in the heart for Connie. Since Bobby's untimely death at age 37 due to heart failure, Connie has remained bittersweet about the time they shared together, claiming that he was her one and only true love.
A few more brief encounters occurred between the two before Darin's untimely passing in 1973. Connie repeatedly stated that her biggest regret was not marrying Darin, the man she considered her soul mate. She experienced a streak of failed marriages after the loss of her one true love. Over her lifetime, Connie married four people. Her longest marriage was to Joseph Garzilli in 1973. Though Connie never experienced true happiness with the one she loved, that wasn't the only misfortune that plagued her.
