Did one of your favorite sitcoms get a reality show spin-off that you can't stand? It's an issue that fans may have to deal with at any time. Many of the new shows are made decades after the original to capitalize on nostalgia.

The most intense example of classic sitcoms with reality TV spin-offs that fans hated was The Beverly Hillbillies. The franchise had already spawned plenty of other similar shows, but the public felt that following a real group of southerners to Hollywood was nothing more than exploitation. Talent shows are a common choice for sitcom spin-offs. They're like a way to see how a new version of your favorite classic sitcom was cast, but that doesn't always make them worthwhile.
There was The Real Dirty Dancing. It put admittedly talented performers together to try to recreate scenes from the famous film. Even they couldn’t match up to its quality, and yet it was also put up on a high pedestal. The Real Partridge Family is entirely forgettable. It might not be remembered at all without performances by Emma Stone. It also didn’t lead to anything substantial. The New Partridge Family only lasted for one episode.
Certain reality show spin-offs also attempted to copy better reality shows. The Real Gilligan's Island was little more than a Survivor rip-off with a bit of Gilligan's Island thrown on top. The most recent example is The Real Love Boat. It’s a dating show on a real cruise ship that takes singles around the Mexican Riviera. They’re guided by cast members from the original show and must complete challenges to see how compatible they are.
