In addition to the ups and downs of having a Hollywood career, Christina has also been dealing with major health issues for the past decade and a half. It started when she was diagnosed with breast cancer. This was obviously a traumatizing and difficult thing to endure, and Applegate was incredible fortunately that after undergoing a double mastectomy, her body was cancer free. This was back in 2008. But her health journey was far from over. In the next years, it was discovered that she has a genetic mutation that makes it much more likely for her to develop ovarian cancer. So, as a preventative measure, doctors removed her ovaries and fallopian tubes.
At that point, it seemed like she might be past the worst of it. But sadly, that wasn’t the case. In 2021, she announced that she had been diagnosed with multiple sclerosis. This devastating news came as she was filming the final season of her snow, Dead To Me, and the actress had to struggle bravely through that process, even needed a wheelchair to get around. But amazingly, she was able to finish shooting the season. Even more recently, in November of 2022, Applegate was awarded a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, which is an incredible feat for anyone in the acting world. For the ceremony, Applegate appeared in public for the first time since sharing her sad diagnosis.
