When Jaclyn Smith was in high school, she wanted to be a ballerina instead of an actress! However, she ended up taking acting roles to pay the bills and became quite successful at it. In 1976, Jaclyn was given her iconic role on Charlie’s Angels, playing the character of Kelly Garrett. One of the series’ three original Angels, Jaclyn ended up being the only of the three actresses to stay on the show for the entirety of its five-season run.

Charlie’s Angels came to an end in 1981, and Jaclyn had gotten a pretty good taste for merchandising during her time on the series. As the show rose in popularity, Jaclyn watched as the likeness of her character popped up on everything from candy to toys! Jaclyn was shocked by the amount of money that there was to be made from such branding and took this experience with her into the 1980s.
In 1985, Jaclyn was approached by Kmart to lend her name to a line of budget women sportswear. Remembering how lucrative branding could be from her time on Charlie’s Angels, Jaclyn jumped at the opportunity. However, she insisted that she have hands-on involvement with the design of the product line and its marketing. The venture proved an immense success and led to Jaclyn developing a business empire that she stills maintains today!
Though Jaclyn is currently more into business than she is into acting, she still pops up on the screen every once in a while! She made a cameo in the 2019 Charlie’s Angels reboot film and recently appeared in a 2021 episode of the show All American. For being 76, she looks amazing!
