For example, Kirk Cameron was one of the biggest stars during his childhood. Like many child stars, he wasn’t able to have much of a successful career as an adult. But in his case, a lot of it deals with him expressing his Christian beliefs – which many people have found offensive.
Likewise, Roseanne Barr isn’t seen as much today even though she was one of the biggest stars on television and has been a pioneer in creating opportunities for women in entertainment. The Hollywood elite were uncomfortable with the fact that she supported Donald Trump and a tweet she wrote a few years ago also got her into trouble.
But sometimes it’s not always about making remarks that go against the norm. Sometimes, speaking against a key Hollywood player can get you into trouble. The actress Tippi Hedren alleged that director Alfred Hitchcock made advances on her. Her career didn’t exactly end but she didn’t continue being a star as she had been when she worked with him.
At times, it’s not always about speaking your mind in public but expressing yourself with the work you take on. James Woods was one of the most respected actors of his generation. But since he’s been open about his political and social views, we don’t see him as often.
