In the 1960s Batman, we were first introduced to the Batmobile. Did you know that it was actually based on a Lincoln car that didn’t sell well? In fact, you’ll be shocked to know how cheap it was to buy the Batmobile.

Now, let's talk about the villains. The Joker is known for his absurd life. But did you know that Cesar Romero invented that laugh and it literally came out of nowhere?

And while we're on the topic of villains, did you know that Burgess Meredith, who played the Penguin, was a heavy smoker? Well, he wasn’t but he had to become one to give the Penguin his distinct voice.

There are quite a lot of crazy things that the actors of the 1960s Batman series had to do. For example, Burt Ward, who played Robin had to perform a lot of stunts on his own. So much so, that the local hospital became his second home.

Both Burt Ward and Adam West also had to do something about their downstairs department – as the censors noticed a bit too much and they didn’t want the audience to see what was going on either.

The Riddler’s costume is rather odd but we have actor Frank Gorshin to thank for it, rather than the show’s producers. The 1960s Batman was quite a crazy show and a lot of hard work went into making it the iconic show we now remember. But we must remember that the reason the franchise took off, is because of this original series.
