Love it or hate, Buck Rogers in the 25th Century was one of the most influential and iconic sci-fi series of the late 70s. If history tells us anything, we can assume that someday it will be given the reboot treatment just like everything else.

Buck Rogers in the 25th Century was produced by Universal Studios and ran for two seasons between 1979 and 1981 on NBC. The pilot of the series was released as a full-length feature film and was received warmly by audiences who loved it for its campy charm.
NBC canceled the series abruptly at the end of the 11th episode of the already brief second season. Not only was the show negatively affected by the 1981 Writers Guild of American strike, but the It's ratings also dropped significantly after the season premiered.
The series revolved around the adventures of Captain Buck, a 20th-century astronaut that emerged out of 500 years of suspended animation only to become Earth's most epic hero. Buck Rogers was a character who has been described as somewhat of a hybrid between Han Solo and James Bond.
While it only was on the air for two seasons, Buck Rogers in the 25th Century left its mark on culture. Audiences were treated to 37 hour-long specials featuring Buck and his pals - and to this day, it's looked back on fondly by its many fans. Granted, not everyone shares this same nostalgic fondness for the series. A quick look at the series Rotten Tomatoes page is quite telling. 18% is a pretty dismal rating.
