But how did Britt Ekland get her start? Britt Ekland was born as Britt-Marie Ekland in Stockholm, Sweden. While she wasn’t from a show business background, she developed a keen interest in acting at a young age. She joined a theater company and traveled around Europe appearing in plays.
Britt Ekland was eventually noticed by a talent agent, and she landed a role in a film called GI Blues. This was in the early 1960s and it led to more roles throughout the decade both in American and European productions.
By the mid-1960s, Britt Ekland was a recognized face and was winning acclaim for her acting and her stunning good looks. By the time the 1970s came around she was one of the most popular celebrities in the world and was one of the most photographed celebrities of the decade.
Among her many great roles, there was one film that is now considered a cult classic. The film is The Wicker Man and it’s arguably one of the Britt’s best roles. Yet, strangely enough, she had a horrible experience working on the film.
One of the many issues she had on the film was when she appeared nude in one scene – against her will. But…it wasn’t actually her who appeared nude in this particular scene. To this day, she often asserts that it wasn’t her nude in the now-famous scene in The Wicker Man.
