After signing with Disney Productions, he began working in film after film, slowly building his resume. In the early 1950s, things really took off, with a role in a suspense thriller and a Juvenile Academy Award. He was able to parlay those into more successful work with Disney, in movies like Treasure Island and the classic animated Peter Pan. The latter movie was the highest-grossing film of the year. So it seemed like Bobby was headed for mega-stardom. But sadly, things went in the utter opposite direction for him.
After hitting puberty, his looks began to change, including lots of acne. And before he knew it, he was tossed from Disney and struggled to find work elsewhere. And this began a slow and steady downfall for the next several years, that included being bullied at school, turning to drugs, and ultimately dying at a tragically young age.
