Asian and Asian American actors are carrying the flame that was lit for them by Golden Age performers who came before them while they struggle against the stereotypes that are attached to their identities in the performances, movies, and activism that they are involved in. The cultural phenomenon known as "yellow peril" was characterized by the idea that East Asian people presented a social, economic, and political danger to the United States. During the Golden Age of Hollywood, the portrayal of Asia and Asian people was connected with this menace. Racism had a role in the emergence of the phenomena, which was sparked by concerns about an impending Asian military invasion, the threat posed to white jobs by Asian immigrants, and the possibility of genetic contamination from the mingling of Asian and European ancestry.

Despite these obstacles, Asian American performers of Hollywood's Golden Age triumphed over racism, broke down boundaries, and set the stage for Asian American actors in today's mainstream and indie film industries. Some names worth mentioning include Anna May Wong. Born Wong Liu-Tsong, she is regarded as the first Chinese-American film star. Anna May Wong's career spanned from 1919 through 1961, appearing in over 60 films, as well as television, theatre, and radio.
Other names include Bruce Lee, who was praised for breaking early stereotypes associated with Asian men. With his incredible physique, strength, and attractiveness, he certainly played his part in paving the way for today's generation. Sessue Hayakawa, James Shigeta, Miyoshi Umeki, and Keye Luke are also a few other names worth celebrating, as their contributions have certainly helped shape Hollywood.
