Angie was married to singer Burt Bacharach at the time, and the two had a child together during their marriage that was born three months prematurely. Thankfully, this child managed to survive. However, she started showing signs of serious mental and physical health problems early on in her life. With the stress of raising their daughter as a contributing factor, Angie and Burt ended up divorcing.

Angie and Burt had been separated for five years before officially divorcing, as they weren’t sure whether or not they truly wanted to go through with it. During that time period, they happily watched each other date, other people, without seeming to mind much. Some say it was the trauma of trying to raise their daughter that caused the pair’s marriage to fall apart. Angie and Burt thought that Nikki wasn’t going to make it after her premature birth. The baby ended up having to stay in an incubator at the hospital for three months before being allowed home. Soon after arriving home, Nikki began showing signs of troubling physical and mental health concerns. Nikki ended up dying tragically of suicide after only being alive for 40 years, and 10 of those years had been spent in a mental institution after her parents gave up on her.
