Are you a fan of all time wrestling great and actor Andre the Giant? He was a huge presence in the world of wrestling, both figuratively and literally. Yet, sadly, he wasn’t a huge presence in the life of his only daughter, Robin. In fact, many people are unaware that he even had a daughter. But Robin, born in the late 70’s to Andre and his girlfriend at the time, Jean Christensen, is the progeny of the late great wrestler.
Sadly though, the two never really had much of a relationship. According to Robin, she only saw her father a handful of times as a child, and those were mainly backstage at wrestling events, or in court, because Andre and her mom didn’t get along. In this video, we take a look at the story of Robin Christensen-Roussimoff, and her famous, yet unavailable dad, Andre the Giant. We talk about the origins of Andre’s relationship with Jean, who was a public relations person in the wrestling world of the 1970’s. We go over their friendship that turned into a romance, and led to the birth of Robin. We also talk about the situations that led to Andre not really being around. Stories like Robin’s first viewing of The Princess Bride, not even knowing that her father was in the movie. And we talk about the effect that Andre’s death at a young age had on Robin. Plus, we get into what Robin has been doing as an adult, including a foray into two of her father’s passions – wrestling and acting.
