Much like Tom Cruise's missions in these movies, story details for Mission: Impossible 7 have been kept quite secret at the moment. For the first few sequels, the Mission: Impossible franchise has generally kept each installment as a standalone adventure. Though Hunt and other characters return, the missions are new. Mission: Impossible β Rogue Nation and Mission: Impossible β Fallout changed that somewhat with Solomon Lane being carried over as the villain. It doesn't appear that Mission: Impossible 7 will connect to those movies, but as part one of the two-part story, it will be setting the stage for potentially the biggest threat Hunt and his team have faced.
Even without too many details on the story, the first trailer for Mission: Impossible 7 was thrilling. As fans have come to expect, the footage showed off the epic stunts of the movie including a wild train sequence as well as the cliff jump. The footage moves fast without giving away too much, but the highlights include seeing Isla sword fighting and sporting an eye patch, seeing Pom Klementieff's new character beating down some people, and seeing Hunt and Hayley Atwell's Grace handcuffed to each other in the middle of a car chase. If anything, the Mission: Impossible β Dead Reckoning trailer shows the sequel is still bringing the action.
