Skaters In Iceland Shredding Under The Northern Lights

Two surfskaters from Switzerland got an incredible backdrop for their night-time fun when they skated under the Northern Lights in Iceland on Thursday 16 November.

With Iceland in just the right spot for the Aurora Borealis, the hunt to see the phenomenon is really a hunt for clear night skies, the filmer said.

They said their group arrived the day before and then headed north for clearer skies, staying in Husavik.

They then "drove a few miles north of Husavik and watched as the Northern Lights appeared."

"It initially started faint and slow but gradually grew big and intense."

The plan was to shoot a surfskating video under the Northern Lights. Surfskating is a kind of skateboarding that somewhat resembles the look and feel of surfing on waves.

To add to the fun, they used wheels that lit up and underlit their boards.

It was shot with a handheld vertical camera: Sony A7S2. The lens was a Sigma Art 20/1.4 and it was adapted with a Viltrox speedbooster.
