Jean had been acting for several years before receiving her role on Batman and had been married to actor Dabney Coleman since 1961. The two studied acting together at the Neighborhood Playhouse in New York City and went on to have three children together before divorcing in 1984. Although Dabney went on to become the bigger star of the two, Jean acted in plenty of memorable roles herself.

Besides Jean’s turn on Batman, one of her other most memorable roles came in the 1967 feature In Like Flint. The film was a sequel to the previous year's Our Man Flint, which was a spoof of the James Bond franchise and featured comedic actor James Coburn. Jean’s role in the feature saw her occupying a similar space as a Bond girl would occupy in a James Bond feature, putting her sex appeal to good use.

Although it seemed like Jean’s acting career might really start going places by the end of the 1960s, the 1970s didn’t see much work come the actress’s way. Jean took the opportunity to focus on her three children with Dabney. Jean officially retired from acting in 1991 and continued living for three decades before recently passing away.
