On October 28, 2023, in Jinhua, Zhejiang, a video showed a pet owner refurbishing their fish tank into a cozy dwelling for a Syrian hamster named Excavator, commonly known as a golden hamster.
To entice the hamster to dig in the sand, the owner, Mr. Fan, placed the hamster's favorite codfish strips buried in the bottom sand, encouraging the little hamster to dig and explore.
This hollow DIY fish tank created a visual illusion, leading to much confusion.
