Erin Gray is a television actress that is best known for playing the part of Colonel Wilma Deering on the beloved science fiction television program Buck Rogers in the 25th Century, as well as the theatrical film that preceded it. Prior to getting the role, Erin had been better known as a model. The role of Colonel Wilma Deering proved Erin’s big break in Hollywood, and she appeared in many other television shows after that seminal series came to an end.

Before getting her start in Hollywood, Erin had worked as a model in New York City. The star was born in Honolulu, Hawaii, and grew up in California. She made the choice to move to New York City after dropping out of college, believing that the city was where she might be able to make a career for herself as a model. She had already worked as a model during her teen years in high school, having appeared in various commercial throughout Los Angeles.
Erin had attended college for a few years with the hopes of getting a mathematics degree before dropping out and pursuing modeling in New York City. While living in New York City, she routinely flew out to Los Angeles and auditioned for acting roles. She eventually got a role in the 1978 miniseries Evening in Byzantium. The role impressed Universal Studios, who signed the budding star to a seven-year contract. The following year, she made her debut as Colonel Wilma Deering on Buck Rogers in the 25th Century.
Today, Erin continues to work in the entertainment industry and likes to take every opportunity she can to share with fans about her fond memories working on Buck Rogers in the 25th Century with costar Gil Gerard, who played the titular character of Buck Rogers.
