This is the incredible moment divers swam alongside a pod of killer whales in Indonesia.

Divers Reinhard Santoso and Ribka Malise plunged into the sea off South Bolaang Mongondow Regency in North Sulawesi, where they encountered the orcas swimming together on May 3.

Footage shows the marine animals moving in the blue water and hovering near coral reefs where colourful fish were floating about. Another clip shows the killer whales 'porpoising' across the water's surface, with spectators cheering at the sight.

Reinhard said they had spotted the whales three times.

He said: 'The first time, there were three orcas swimming to the right of us divers. Then, the second time, two orcas suddenly appeared as if they were dancing in front of us. They were very close.'

Another pod of seven orcas were seen seemingly following the divers' boat as they were returning to shore.

Reinhard said: 'We met them again on the way home, they were dancing right in the ship area. Some even swam under our boat.'

Orca sightings are rare in Indonesia. They were previously seen in a pod last April 2020 in the Anambas Islands area, also near East Flores and North Sulawesi late June on the same year.
